Cooling Fan for Liquid Cooling System of Ultra-Fast Charging Station

Date:2024-11-15

In the liquid cooling system of ultra-fast charging piles, cooling fans play a crucial role. Its main function is to accelerate the flow of air, quickly dissipating the heat absorbed by the coolant during heat dissipation into the surrounding environment. The cooling fan requirements in the liquid cooling system of the charging pile are relatively strict to meet the heat dissipation needs of the charging pile during high-power operation. The following are the specific requirements for the cooling fan in the liquid cooling system of the charging pile.
Since charging piles, especially fast charging and supercharging piles, generate a lot of heat during operation, the cooling fan needs to have a high exhaust air volume and exhaust speed to ensure that the heat can be discharged in time.
The cooling fan should be installed close to the main heating element, and the air duct design should be reasonably planned to ensure that the airflow can flow smoothly and effectively cool all components. At the same time, the convection design of circulating heat dissipation in the whole cabinet should be considered, so that the inlet and outlet air pass through the main heating elements.

Cooling fan type
Axial Fan
The direction of airflow of an axial fan is parallel to the fan shaft. This kind of fan has the characteristics of large air volume and high efficiency. In liquid cooling systems, it is usually installed on the side of a radiator or heat exchanger to blow the heat away directly from the surface of the device. For example, some small ultra-fast charger liquid cooling systems use axial fans to quickly dissipate the heat generated by the heat exchanger through which the coolant flows.
Centrifugal fan
Centrifugal fans work by allowing air to enter axially and then expelling radially under the action of centrifugal force. It is characterized by high wind pressure and is able to overcome certain resistance. It is more suitable in some charging pile liquid cooling systems with complex structures, need to direct heat to a specific direction, or have large air resistance. For example, when the heat dissipation channels are tortuous or hot air needs to be expelled upwards, centrifugal fans can do the job better.
Installation location and layout
The location of the cooling fan in the liquid cooling system of the ultra-fast charging station is very important. It is usually installed in the vicinity of a heat exchanger or heat sink to ensure that the heat can be taken away directly and efficiently. In terms of layout, some systems use a single large fan, while others use a combination of multiple small fans. For example, for large ultra-fast chargers, multiple axial fans may be installed on either side of the heat exchanger in the liquid cooling system to create convective air flow and enhance heat dissipation.
