DC Cooling Fan for Automotive Industry: Function and Principle

Date:2025-03-05

With the development of society, the parts inside the car are also developing and updating. Especially the dc cooling fan on the automotive. DC cooling fans for automobiles are used for cooling and ventilation in cars, trucks, RVs, and other vehicles. They can be used for a variety of applications, including air conditioning, LED headlamps, and seat ventilation. So do you know what the function of the cooling fan is? What is the working principle?

DC Cooling Fan for Automotive Industry: Function and Principle

It is mainly used for engine cooling and coolant cooling to ensure that the engine does not malfunction due to high temperature.

The automobile engine must be properly cooled in a high-temperature working environment to keep it working at a suitable temperature to meet the requirements of good engine performance, durability and exhaust emissions. The engine cooling system plays a key role in this. It mainly includes components such as cooling fan, water tank, thermostat, etc.

1. The radiator belongs to the automobile cooling system. The radiator in the engine water cooling system consists of three parts: water inlet chamber, water outlet chamber, main plate and radiator core. The coolant flows in the radiator core, and the air passes outside the radiator core. The hot coolant cools down due to the heat dissipation to the air, and the cold air heats up due to the heat dissipated by the coolant. Therefore, the radiator is a heat exchanger.

2. The radiator serves as both a water storage and heat dissipation device. An air vapor valve is installed on the radiator cap of the car, and there is a common air hole connected to the atmosphere. When the water temperature rises, the cooling water in the car radiator expands and produces water vapor, the pressure rises, and the steam valve is opened to open the air; when the water temperature drops, the pressure drops, the air valve opens, and the outside air enters the radiator from this common air hole, thereby ensuring that the pressure in the radiator remains constant.

3. The radiator is the main part of the cooling system, and its purpose is to protect the engine from damage caused by overheating. The principle of the radiator is to use cold air to reduce the temperature of the coolant from the engine in the radiator. The radiator has two main components, the radiator fins composed of small flat tubes, and the overflow tank (on the top, bottom or both sides of the radiator fins).

Working principle of automotive cooling fan

In order to avoid engine overheating and ensure cooling effect, the components around the combustion chamber (cylinder liner, cylinder head, valve, etc.) must be properly cooled. The cooling system of an automobile generally consists of a radiator, a thermostat, a water pump, a cylinder water channel, a cylinder head water channel, a fan, etc.

The radiator is responsible for cooling the circulating water. Its water pipes and radiators are mostly made of aluminum. The aluminum water pipes are made into a flat shape, and the radiators are corrugated. They focus on heat dissipation performance. The installation direction is perpendicular to the direction of air flow, and the wind resistance is as small as possible and the cooling efficiency is as high as possible.

The coolant flows in the radiator core, and the air passes through the outside of the radiator core. The hot coolant cools down due to the heat dissipation to the air, and the cold air heats up due to the heat dissipated by the coolant. Therefore, the radiator is a heat exchanger.

We can see from the above article that the role of the automotive cooling fan is still very important.
